Jim Rutherford – Senior Pastor – Jim is the primary teacher and leader of the church. He is passionate about teaching people the Scriptures, and helping the church reach out in love to our city. Jim was born in Solvang, California (near Santa Barbara). At 13, Jim heard the Gospel and responded for the first time at Hume Lake Christian Camp. However, he didn’t start following Jesus until he was 18.  Jim graduated from Westmont College and then Phoenix Seminary.  Jim and his wife, Mecca, have two children – a son Devan born in 2006, and a daughter Elsah born in 2009. Jim came to Oak Hills in June of 2013 from California. Email Pastor Jim

 

 

Paul Pankratz – Paul is the Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Community Life and is primarily responsible for outreach, assimilation, and adult ministries at Oak Hills. Paul encourages the church to gather in community, set intentional learning plans to grow spiritually, and develop a missional posture in each believer to go share the gospel. Paul grew up in Minot, ND and responded to the gospel early in life. He is married to Kelly and they have four children (Emma, Hezekiah, Levi & Olivia). Prior to having children, Paul and Kelly were missionaries in Cambodia.  Paul is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Fuller Theological Seminary. He started at Oak Hills in the fall of 2011. Chad SmithChad is the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries and is primarily responsible for the spiritual growth and development of our Middle and High School students. Chad is very passionate about intergenerational ministry and developing a culture with our students that is both biblical and balanced. Chad was born in Charlotte, NC and accepted Christ at the age of 7. However, it wasn’t until the age of 16 after Chad’s family had moved to Lincoln, Nebraska that he really began to live a life sold out for the gospel. Chad graduated from Moody Bible Institute in May 2016 with a double major in Biblical and Theological Studies and has been serving on our staff since August of 2016. Email Chad

 

Shelly Haan – Shelly leads the Kid's Ministry at Oak Hills as the Director of Kid’s Ministries, which includes Sunday School, Kids Night, Vacation Bible School, and various special events throughout the year. She loves to see kids get excited about their faith and, as they grow, to share it with others. Shelly grew up in Canton, SD, but calls Sioux Falls home. She graduated from Augustana College and the University of South Dakota graduate school.  Shelly and her husband Dave have three children (Sofia, Dimitri, and Dietrich). Shelly started volunteering in Kid's Ministry at Oak Hills in 2003 which turned into a part-time job as the Kid’s Director in 2007. Email Shelly

 

 

Leanne Kooima -- Leanne joined the Oak Hills staff in the summer of 2013 and serves as the Graphic Artist & Administrative Assistant. She grew up in LeMars, Iowa and graduated from Dordt College with a BA in Graphic Design. She has worked in a variety of industries, but finds that her true passion is assisting those in ministry, a passion that came about after serving for 4 years in YWAM Vancouver, British Columbia. Leanne and her husband Kory married in 2006 and they call Sioux Falls home. Email Leanne

 

 

Dave Aesoph -- Worship Leader -- Dave was raised Catholic in Milbank, SD, He was captivated by music at a young age and began guitar lessons in grade school.  He played in bands during high school and college, but upon graduation his musical endeavors took a back seat to raising a family and pursuing success in business.  Having come to Christ in the 90's through Christian radio, he joined a contemporary worship team as a guitar player in 2006. Within a few months, he felt called to lead.  Upon his return to SD in 2009, he's had the opportunity to transition from electric guitar player to worship leader. He retired from the insurance industry after 20 years to pursue full-time music ministry. He and his wife Alyssa live in central Sioux Falls. He has a daughter, Tricia and 4 grandchildren, and a step-daughter Shelby. Toni Rae Outland -- Toni joined the Oak Hills staff in August of 2015 as the Kids Sunday Morning Coordinator. Sunday School and the other kids ministries at Oak Hills have been very important to the Outland family. Toni was born in Eastern Minnesota but has made her home in Brandon, SD with husband Derek and kids Max and Emily. Toni graduated with a BA in Elementary Education and another in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from Augustana College.  Email Toni

 

 

 

Dylan VanMeveren -- Dylan is our new Facility Coordinator at Oak Hills. Dylan is married to Katie and he is a student at Sioux Falls Seminary. Facility requests that are not ministry related can be sent to Dylan directly. Email Dylan
